#1 Apple Cider Vinegar

Here is how you need to apply this magic solution onto the acne prone skin.

You will need good quality apple cider vinegar and some fresh water. Add 1 part of apple cider vinegar to 3 parts of fresh water. Dip a clean cotton ball in this solution and dab the cotton ball on the affected area. Leave it for few minutes and wash your face afterwards. Don’t forget to apply a moisturiser after you apply this solution to your face.

#2 Honey and yoghurt mask

This mask does wonders when it comes to treating acne prone skin. Yoghurt provides a cooling effect to the affected area. The fat present in yoghurt helps in nourishing and pampering the acne. Honey due to its anti-inflammatory properties helps in removing the redness and provides a calming effect to the acne prone area. It helps in removing excess oil making skin smooth and calming.

To prepare this mask you will need 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of skimmed yoghurt. Mix both the ingredients well. Apply a thick layer on the acne prone area. Let it dry completely. Wash with cold water when dry. Don’t forget to moisturise your face after removing the mask to remove any dryness.

#3 Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is an oil obtained from Melaleuca alternifolia plant found in Australia. This oil works as magic on acne prone skin. It’s the best alternative to treat acne without using chemicals. Now you must be wondering that if excessive oil is only the main cause of acne then why are we recommending you to use oil to treat acne. Right? So let us tell you that tea tree oil is way too different from the oil produced by our oil glands. Tea tree oil helps in removal and sebum and thus open ups the clogged pore. This is how it does its magic in treating acne. The anti-bacterial properties of the oil help in killing bacteria. This oil is 100% oil but sometimes it can cause itching to some people. So it is always advisable to do a patch test before using this oil.

You will need 1 part of tea tree oil and 9 parts of pure water. Mix both the ingredients well and apply this mixture with the help of cotton ball onto the acne prone area. Wash off the excess oil and apply a moisturiser after washing your face.

#4 Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a plant that grows well in tropical climates and is known for its anti-bacterial properties to treat skin problems especially acne. The cooling sensation of the gel helps in reducing redness and the anti-bacterial properties of the gel help in killing the bacteria. There are various aloe vera gels available but the purest one is the one naturally grown at your home. Aloe vera can be mixed with other ingredients to treat acne but it can also be used as the way it is.

Squeeze out some aloe vera gel from aloe vera leaves. Apply this gel onto the acne prone area after cleaning your face.  Let it dry completely. Wash your face when it dries off completely and applies moisturiser as usual.

#5 Baking soda

You will need 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of fresh water. Mix both the ingredients well. Apply a thick layer of this paste onto the acne prone areas. Let it dry off completely. Wash your face after it gets dry. Don’t forget to apply moisturiser as baking soda makes your skin dry.

Deep cleanse it by using a good face wash that contains ingredients like lemon, aloe vera, ginger and other such things that help in treating acne. Always exfoliate your skin once or twice a week.
